I have a background in both classical and jazz piano, and I’ve taken private lessons on a number of instruments including guitar, drums, and saxophone. I’ve studied music theory, conducting, and ear training, and I’ve studied classical piano with world-famous teacher Seymour Bernstein for the last 10 years.

What do Piano Lessons Include?
Piano lessons can include a number of different topics. Lessons typically include the piano fundamentals such as reading sheet music and learning basic music theory concepts like scales and chords. In addition, I tailor my lessons to the needs and goals of each individual student. Some students may prefer to focus on ear training and musicianship. Others may wish to learn how to improvise on chord changes or play from lead sheets or charts rather than learning classical pieces. I also teach students about memorization strategies, preparing for performances, and music theory. It all depends on the individual student.
What is your piano teaching background?
I have a wide range of piano teaching experience. I’ve worked with young children, teenagers, and retired adults. I’ve taught piano to beginner, intermediate, and advanced students. I’ve also taken many years of music lessons on other instruments with a number of different teachers. As such, I have a deep understanding of how private lessons work as well as a knowledge of different teaching styles and approaches.
